Former Victory and Wellington coach Ernie Merrick joins us to discuss his new role with the Newcastle Jets and his time away from the game. “I think I left Phoenix in a better position than when I took over three years previously, but there were some difficulties there. But I’m certainly looking forward to building Newcastle up into a team that will make the finals.”

Reflecting on his career to date, Merrick admits he’s been fortunate to live and work in more than a few places. “I arrived in Melbourne in ’75 on a one-year visa and never went back, but I’ve always enjoyed it here. Wellington was great too and now I’m looking forward to going to a warmer place in Newcastle – I’ve been very lucky really.” LISTEN NOW.
