Steve Corica’s reputation as one of Australia’s best managers continues to grow, with his Sydney FC side sitting atop the A-League moving into the second third of the season.

Corica’s winning percentage of 63.4% is the highest of any A-League manager in history (minimum 10 matches), made all the more impressive by Sydney’s displacement as their stadium is redeveloped.

Speaking to Box2Box, Corica explained his side were determined not to be distracted by an issue which has derailed many sides in the past.

“We knew the stadium was going to get knocked down, and it was a no-excuse policy. We moved most of our games at Kogorah and in the end, we’ve really enjoyed it there”, he said.

“Even when we’ve played at Leichardt, it’s a similar atmosphere to Kogarah. I think the boys are enjoying playing in the smaller stadiums at the moment”.

Kogarah will on Sunday host a top of the table clash between the Sky Blues and second placed Melbourne City. While not as consistent as Sydney, City are perhaps the only side who can challenge Sydney’s best on their day.

It will also be a battle of the sharp shooters, with City’s Jamie Maclaren (ten goals) challenging Sydney’s Adam Le Fondre (eleven) for the golden boot.

“Adam’s had a terrific start to the season with eleven goals. Now we come across Jamie Maclaren, it will be a battle to see who scores on the weekend, I’m looking forward to seeing both of them in action”.
